Flip Text — Upside Down, Backwards, or Both

Turn ordinary text into eye-catching flipped, reversed, or mirrored text that copies and pastes anywhere plain Unicode is accepted. "hello" becomes "olleh" reversed or "ollǝɥ" upside down — perfect for standing out in social bios, usernames, and playful messages. Free, in-browser, no signup.

Three Transformations

StyleInputOutput
Reversedhelloolleh
Upside downhelloollǝɥ
Both (true flip)hellooꞁꞁǝɥ read when rotated

Reversed simply writes the characters in backward order, still upright. Upside down swaps each letter for its 180°-rotated Unicode look-alike and reverses the order — so when someone literally turns their phone over, your text reads normally. That combination is what makes true "flip text" feel like magic rather than a jumble.

How the Upside-Down Trick Works

There's no "rotate" formatting involved — it's a clever use of Unicode's huge character set. Letters from the international phonetic alphabet, mathematical symbols, and other scripts happen to look like upside-down versions of Latin letters: ǝ for e, ɐ for a, ┴ for T, ¡ for i. The tool maps your text onto these look-alikes. Because they're genuine text characters (not images or styling), the result survives copy-paste into places that accept only plain text — the whole reason it works in a bio or username where real formatting can't reach.

Where People Use It

  • Social bios & usernames — flipped text stops the scroll where ordinary text blends in.
  • Playful messages — send a note friends have to turn their phone to read.
  • Spoiler hiding — reversed text obscures answers until deliberately read.
  • Creative typography — captions, art posts, and puzzle-style content.

A Note on Compatibility

Most platforms display flipped Unicode fine, but a few with strict character filters may strip or box-out certain glyphs. If a particular character doesn't show on one app, it's the platform's filter, not the text — try the reversed-only style, which uses standard letters and works virtually everywhere.
